Learn about VW Engines : 2.0L TSI

2.0L TSI

The 2.0 liter TSI (turbo straight injection) 4-cylinder engine was designed with the goal of extracting as much performance from as little displacement as possible. Specifically, torque was high on the priority list. The TSI’s method of injecting a precise amount of fuel directly into the combustion chamber using a very high pressure results in a broad, flat torque band across the entire rev range. Coupled with an intercooled turbocharger, the engine responds and feels more like a larger displacement 6-cylinder engine, while retaining the excellent fuel economy and lower emissions of a small displacement 4-cylinder engine. It has won numerous engine awards, including International Engine of the Year (1.8-2.0L) four years running, and has found its way into an array of Volkswagen models, including the GTI, Tiguan, Passat, CC, Eos and Jetta, as well as Audi’s A3, A4 and A5.
